We built a farmstand

Once upon a time, we rented a darling country home. The bonus room served as our craft/painting studio for commissioned artwork and craft fairs. But as our children grew, so did our dreams of having our own little farm and a place to sell our homemade hobbies. Fast forward a couple years and we have been blessed with a chunk of Midwest dirt, a hundred+ year old farmstead that was once treasured by a local family with the same name as our small town. It’s been a struggle and a wonder making this historic house a home, along with the excitement of uncovering overgrown rhubarb, rose bushes, grape vines, and much more around the property. We have a ton of work to do, but with faith and patience we believe this can be a place to build a future for our next generations. We’re starting small, with a sweet feathered flock and a farmstand to sell whatever goodies we can scrape together. We homeschool and can’t wait to establish stronger connections with the community around us. We already cherish the little chats out at the farmstand, whether it’s a local neighbor sharing stories about the house, or an out-of-town passerby enjoying an opportunity to treat some free range chickens.

This farmstand was built from scratch, using materials we collected around the property. That makes it feel even more special to us!
